getting tough

It is dark and cold when I get off work now and I find myself more and more reluctant to go back out to the Y and exercise.  I have been downright lazy…and I hate it.  I haven’t gained actual weight back, but I can tell that I am “de-toning”.  DANG IT!

I could really use some advice from my fellow Buddy Slim peeps.  Thank you!

Construction Craziness

OMG! We have no roof! In all seriousness we are having a ton of work done right now. We’ve had a leak in the den that went too long and we finally got insurance people out to look at it and our roof. Last weekend we moved EVERYTHING out of the den, pulled up the carpeting, and prepared for construction. We got check yesterday and now they are ripping up the ceiling, roof, and replacing all the split beams. It is going to be a complete redo! It is shocking! I’ll be posting photos of the transition. When it is all done, it is going to be like a brand new part of the house. I’m so excited. In the meantime the noise is a killer.
Ciao for now family and friends!

People Starting to Notice

People at work are starting to notice my weight loss.  It is a great feeling.  One that I really want to keep around for a long time.

I’m treating my relationship with food as an addiction.  I just take it one day at a time.  I don’t go over board like I use to.  I am eating very healthy and I am enjoying trying new foods.  I am mostly watching sodium, carbs, fat, and calories.  Lots of green veggies.

I am working out every day, either at home or at the gym.  When I am at home I do Leslie Sansone’s Booster 1 mile DVD.  When I go to the gym I do treadmill and light weights.  I am really toning up and my endurance is getting so much better.  The thing about working out is that it really makes you feel good and energized.  I would have thought it would be the opposite.

So that is my update.

Red Star!

I know I haven’t been posting, but I have been keeping up with the workout and the eating better.  It is paying off.  I’m showing a 10 lb weight loss, but even better is the fact that I can tell my clothes are fitting so much better and I feel better.  :)

 Yay me!  :)

Food Journal, The Y, and Weight Loss

I started a food journal today.  Posting here.

Also stepped on the scale and was surprised to see it actually moved down 5 pounds!

I also went to work out at The Y.  I did 10 minutes on Eliptical Machine, 35 Minutes on Treadmill, and 10 minutes of light free weights.  Had a lot of fun actually and got to see a friend I had seen in ages!  :)  Kids had fun too.  My son was really doing great on treadmill.  My daughter had fun in the club house.

Joined The Y & Food Choices

I took advantage of the corporate membership that my company offers and joined the Y.  Hubby, of course, didn’t “get” it.  But I thought it would be a great way of really working on a better lifestyle and good for the kids too.  I’ve tried to go twice and he’s grumbled about it and really got down right ugly about it.  The first time I conceeded to his wishes.  The second time I went anyways.  I told him I was not going to battle him over this each and every time and he better support it.  I didn’t get a chance to work out yet.  I had my daughter with me and the kids club house was not open at that time.  But my son was able to go through orientation while we waited.  He’s not quite 16 yet and they would not let him use the equipment until he took a class on it.

I purused the grocery store very carefully this weekend.  I bought bags and bags of fresh frozen veggies that could be taken for lunch and steamed.  I broke down the big bags into individual daily bags.  I also bought some very lean and low sodium individually pattied hamburger meat (Laura’s-in green box).  I got snacks like yougurt, sugar-free/fat-free pudding, rice cakes, and various other things.  I told everyone this is “my stuff”, but the kids won’t stay out of it.  If it were my husband I could handle it, but hard to deny my kids.  I bought enough food for myself for 3 weeks, but with the kids eating it too, I don’t see it lasting more than a week.  This is a problem.

Finally Saw Doctor

It took a ride in an abulance, but I finally saw a doctor and have been going through a bunch of tests from blood work to MRI.  Looks like high blood pressure, but not on medication yet.  He wants to wait until all tests are in.  I’ve been having the nurse at work test my blood pressure every morning and she is keeping a log I can take to my doctor.  It is better than it was last Thursday, but I’ve been really careful about what I eat.

I am joining the Family Y and plan on going 2-3 times a week.  I put my foot down and told hubby this is what I have to do.  If he has a problem with it, then he’ll have to deal.  So far he has not done anything to help support me.  Keeps cooking stuff I can’t eat.  So I wind up scrounging for something else that is low in sodium.  So I’m going to buy stuff for myself and segregate it in an area for ME.  If anyone touches it, I’m cutting their hands off.  LOL

Frustrated

Work has been stressful, I’m having health problems, and I just generally feel like crap.  So what do I do?   I turn to food and binge on things I know I shouldn’t eat, but they momentarily make me feel better.  It is a falsehood, I know…but it is a cycle I can’t seem to break and it is going to KILL ME one day.  My right foot swells almost daily.  I am having vision problems and dizzy spells (diabetes I am sure- my brother is diabetic and I’ve been borderline off and on for years and prenatal diabetes).

I want to ask my doctor about weight loss surgery, but I’m scared and it makes me feel like a failure because I can’t do it on my own.

1 lb gain

I showed a 1 lb gain this week, but I’m not stressing it.  I’ve been playing Wii Sports a lot in the past week and I know I’ve got developing muscle (the pain says it all).  I can also tell certain clothes fit a little better.  So I actually feel pretty good, though I am showing a gain.  I’m looking at getting the Wii Fit, but I heard it has a weight limit.  I need to do some research on it.  If anyone has it or knows about it, shoot me a message!  melibee@comcast.net  Thank you.

3 lb loss

Don’t know how it happened. Didn’t really do much to aquire it. Just been too hot to really eat much and I’ve been busy as a bee.  Not celebrating it, because when you are as heavy as I am 3 lbs can be gained or lost in a single day.  When I see consistant losses, then I’ll feel better.
